third-party reproduction consultation and psychological evaluation
psychological evaluations for intended parents and egg, sperm, & embryo donors
what is a third-party psychological evaluation?
If you're building your family through donor conception or interested in helping someone build theirs through donation, a psychological consultation and evaluation is typically required by your fertility clinic. These evaluations are not meant to be a barrier or test to pass, but a chance to reflect on the process you're undertaking, ask questions, and make sure everyone is as prepared as possible for what's ahead.
As a licensed reproductive psychologist, I conduct these evaluations with both the clinical rigor that your clinic requires and the warmth and care this experience deserves. You're doing something significant and this part of the process should feel supportive, not stressful.

types of evaluations & consultations we offer
egg, sperm, & embryo donor
If you are donating eggs, sperm, or embryos — whether as a directed donor to someone you know or through a clinic or agency — a psychological evaluation is a required part of the process. This evaluation begins with some intake paperwork and a standardized assessment completed before we meet, followed by a clinical interview. Afterward, a report is prepared and shared with your clinic or agency. The goal is not to scrutinize you; it's to make sure you feel genuinely ready for what this involves and that your wellbeing is centered throughout.
intended parents
If you are an intended parent pursuing third-party reproduction — whether through donor eggs, donor sperm, or donor embryos — this consultation is for you. Per the guidance of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), this session is a required step to review and discuss the implications of third-party reproduction with a qualified mental health professional. Think of it less as an evaluation and more as a dedicated space to reflect on the journey you're embarking on, ask the questions you haven't had the chance to ask, and make sure you feel informed and prepared. After the session, a brief report is provided to your fertility clinic.
