If you're the only one who can do it right, you're the only one who can ever do it.

That's the trap of maternal gatekeeping. Hovering over the diaper change, redoing the outfit, stepping in to soothe the baby the "right" way. You do know your baby best, and taking over can be faster. But every time you do, you buy a little more exhaustion for you, chip away at your partners confidence, and stay locked in as the only parent who can handle anything.

The rule I give parents: step in for health and safety, and for everything else ask, "what is the worst that actually happens?"

Moms need moms. People who really understand the struggle, the joy, and everything in-between.

The research on postpartum mental health is clear: social support isn't just nice to have. Connection and community protects us against perinatal mood and anxiety disorders.

Whether it's a formal support group or your neighborhood moms, finding your village is one of the best ways to survive motherhood. 🤍

If that person is you: what you're feeling makes complete sense, and you don't have to carry it alone.
